Barbara S. Brim passed away on Saturday, December 31st, 2022, in Carrollton, Texas, at the age of 84. She was born on February 5th, 1938, in Delhi, Louisiana, to Alvie E. Baker and Oma Hendrix Baker. After residing in Louisiana and Laurel, Mississippi, as a young girl she moved to Dallas with her mother. She married Henry D. Brim, Jr. on September 6th, 1958, and they lived in Carrollton, Texas. She worked as a secretary until she and Henry started their family with the birth of a son in July of 1959. In 1961 Henry and Barbara moved to Miami, Florida, where Henry worked for a branch of Cascade Linen Service. That same year they welcomed the arrival of a daughter, and Barbara took care of the children at their home in Hialeah, Florida. They later moved to Georgia and then New Jersey as Henry continued his career with Cascade Linen. In 1967 they moved back to Dallas where they managed a company named American Laundry & Dry Cleaning. They helped build and sell that business, then co-founded Brim Laundry Machinery Co. in 1970. Together she and Henry built that business where she was the bookkeeper and office manager for 43 years. She was very organized, paid attention to the details and enjoyed learning about those newfangled IBM computer systems and software. Henry passed away in 1997 and Barbara continued working at the machinery company until 2013. She then founded Delhigh Properties and managed that business until 2022.
She was a longtime member of Park Cities Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday School and was involved in Bible study. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf and occasionally joining Henry for trips to the country to spend time together at their Circle B Ranch in Sunset, Texas. She also attended numerous conventions, meetings and trips over the years with her husband, making lifelong friendships and establishing many great relationships within the laundry industry as a result of her participation. In later years she was also active in a book club and a 42-domino group. She was extremely proud of her family and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Barbara was a kind, generous and smart lady who loved the Lord.
She is survived by her son Mark Brim and wife Carolyn of Dallas; daughter Brenda Swinton and husband Bill of Midlothian; and grandchildren Catherine Brim Osborne (husband JB), Madalyn Brim, Samuel Swinton (wife Haylee) and Charlotte Swinton.
