Barbara “Barbie” Daniels was born on May 6, 1933, in Ouzinkie, Alaska, to Simeon Squartsoff and Irene Lukin. She was raised in Kodiak, Alaska, and passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, in Mesquite, Texas. Known affectionately as Barbie, she was loved for her happy and kind spirit. Always smiling and energetic. She enjoyed painting, collecting bells, and decorating—especially for every holiday. She loved to travel, with Alaska and Hawaii being her favorite destinations, and she continued dancing well into her 90s.
Barbie devoted her life to her family as a full-time homemaker. She took great joy in caring for her loved ones and teaching her children everything they needed to live meaningful, successful lives.
She met her husband, Kenneth (Ken or Tex) Daniels, as a teenager while he was stationed in Kodiak with the U.S. Navy. The two married on March 17, 1949, and shared 48 wonderful years together until his passing on July 5, 1997. Together, they were blessed with six children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren. Barbie’s greatest joy was her family—her eyes always lit up when a new grandchild was born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Daniels Sr., her parents, Simeon Squartsoff, and Irene Lukin; her sister, Lita Ecklund; her brother, Simeon “Buddy” Squartsoff; and her sons-in-law, Billy Brown, Charles Marshall, and Joel Wilson.
She is survived by her children: Deanna Brown, Donna Marshall, Denise Ashwood, Daryl Webb (Danny), Deborah Veal (Dale), and Kenneth Daniels Jr., (April) along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren
