OBITUARY

Barbara O. Hampton

November 30, 1937November 29, 2019

Barbara Hampton was born on November 30, 1937 to the late Romie & Haulthy Mae Maryland. Barbara was the 3rd of 7 children. She was known as “Madea” to her family and friends. Her hard work and determination led to retirement in the late 90’s from the US Postal Service. She looked forward to fishing anytime she wanted to and it was something she truly loved to do. She enjoyed playing and hosting card parties with the “Queen of Hearts.”

Sister Barbara Hampton was an active member at New Leaf Missionary Baptist Church and served on several ministries until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Franklin Pierce Hampton Sr., brothers John Robert, Romie and James Roy Maryland. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sherilyn McGown and Tammy Fleming, one son Franklin Hampton Jr., two sisters Joyce McClain and Mildred Jackson, one brother, Stacy Maryland , four grandchildren, Quaylon Maryland, Latoya Jones, Frenecia Faison and Tafflon Hampton, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
