Barbara Jean, known to most as Jeannie, was born in Davilla, Texas on November 2, 1941, as the daughter of Ralph and Magnolia Bowser. She was the fifth of eight siblings: Margaret, Loretta, Lonzetta, Shirley, James, Anita, and Sue. Barbara moved to California for a few years, after which, she returned to Dallas and worked at Sears, Roebuck and Co. where she later retired. After retirement, she decided to go into housekeeping. Her clients were like her extended family and she cherished each and every moment she spent with them.
Barbara Jean loved the family gatherings. Every time it neared the bigger holidays, there was a mention of planning the menu. “Ok y’all, we need to go ahead and make the menu for…!” Even though age started creeping in, she enjoyed the different getaways she started taking. “When is the next ladies trip? We definitely have to go back to Texarkana to that BBQ spot!” It was a pleasure to see her enjoyment.
Barbara Jean was preceded by Magnolia Bowser (mother), Mrs. Mazie (stepmom), Ralph Bowser (father), Margaret Johnson (sister), James and Loretta Bowser (brother/sister-n-law), Shirley Perkins (sister), Lonzetta and Ervin Fields (sister/brother-n-law), Loretta Bowser (sister), Anita and Marcus Abdalla (sister/brother-n-law), and Sue Cozine (sister).
Although Barbara did not have any children of her own, she had a host of nieces, nephews, and greats whom she cared for like they were her own. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory Afriana Johnson, Barbara Ann Anderson-Cozine, Shamond Cozine, George Cozine and all of her family and friends who loved her dearly.
