Barbara Ann Ryan

Barbara was born on April 17, 1942, to Imogene Johnson & L.C. Wilson in Van Alstyne, TX. She grew up surrounded by her grandmother, aunts, uncles, & many cousins. Barbara graduated from Fredrick Douglas High School in Sherman, TX on May. 10, 1960. She married her former husband, Charles E. Ryan on May 13, 1960.

Barbara & Charles were blessed with a daughter, Tammy. As a military family, Barbara traveled the United States & abroad. She was a quite, private person that loved Jesus Christ, shopping & family gatherings. She loved attending church services. Barbara was employed with the US Government; she retired from Immigration & Naturalization Services (INS) after 28 years of service.

Barbara & her family joined Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church on Feb. 10, 2013. She served in the Senior Adult Ministry (SAM), Greeter ministry, & weekly Bible study until her health began to fail.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, brother Nathanial Johnson, & sister Marilyn Price.

Barbara went to her heavenly home on Aug. 4, 2025. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Lawrence); granddaughter Ryan; Sisters Ruby McKinney, Sheila Robinson & Margie Tyler (Freddie); Brother L.T. Johnson, Jr.; & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
