

She was the daughter of Thurman Belmont Taylor and Ella Jane Knox. Barbara graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College and taught school in Blytheville, Arkansas and in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She then made a career change and became a stewardess for American Airlines for 5 years. She then received a Master’s Degree in Library Science from The University of Texas and became a school librarian for several schools in the Dallas Independent School District and retired from Skyline High School after 24 years.
After retirement Barbara traveled extensively with her longtime friend Carolyn Creel. A lifetime reader, she joined the 2nd Tuesday Book Club, which was mostly composed of retired Skyline teachers.
She is survived by her niece, Pamela Sue Miller and nephew, David Alan Miller - both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a host of friends.

A reception celebrating Barbara’s life will be held in the reception room of Grove Hill Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. on June 18, 2026.
