Barbara Jeanne (Stumpf) Zellers

Barbara Jeanne (Stumpf) Zellers was born on December 21,1930 in East Chicago, Indiana to Adolph (Otto) Stumpf and Catherine (Fagan) Stumpf. She was the third and youngest daughter of Otto and Catherine. She married Carl E. Zellers Jr. on April 18, 1953 and they were married for 64 years before the passing of her beloved husband in 2018. She died on April 24, 2025 after a brief illness.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Catherine, her older sisters, Betty Jane and Mary Catherine and her husband, Carl, and is survived by her children, Tom Zellers and Catherine “Kate” Bartz; daughter-in-law Catherine (Seal) Zellers; former son-in law Don Bartz; her grandchildren, Caitrin Zellers and Jacob Bartz; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Indiana University and the radiology training program of St Catherine’s Hospital. She worked as a radiology technician for over 60 years specializing in mammography and CT and retired at the young age of 83. She was known as a “force to be reckoned with” in every radiology department she served, routinely arriving around 6 am, to prepare for a busy outpatient day. Nobody could outwork her there. In 1999, Barbara and Carl moved from Munster, Indiana to Lewisville, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She was a breast cancer survivor who really enjoyed reading, traveling, and caring for her family and friends.

Her funeral will be held Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:30 am at St Rita Catholic Church (12521 Inwood Rd Dallas, TX) with entombment to follow at Sparkman-Hillcrest (7405 W Northwest Highway, Dallas, Tx).
