Barry was born on February 2, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Nutley, NJ soon thereafter. Nutley remained an important part of his early life and the place where he spent his formative years. He later graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.
Barry devoted his professional life to helping others. He found his calling working with children and adults with developmental challenges and ultimately became the Executive Director of the Guild for Exceptional Children in Brooklyn, NY. He dedicated many years to that organization and to the people it served retiring in 2008. His work was more than a career-it was a reflection of his compassion and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Barry lived a rich and fulfilling life. He loved travel, enjoyed the company of his many friends and treasured the time spent with family. He had a wonderful ability to form lasting friendships and those relationships remained an important part of his life throughout the years.
Three years ago, Barry moved to Dallas to be closer to his family. Having him nearby gave us the opportunity to share more time together and create new memories that we will always cherish.
Barry leaves his brother Martin and his wife Joy, his niece Jennifer and her husband Matthew, his nephew David and his great nieces, Ally and Lauren along with his many friends and business associates.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Guild for Exceptional children, 1273 57th St. Brooklyn, NY 11219.
Barry will be laid to rest at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ joining his Mother and Father. Rest in peace, Barry.
