Bernadina Therese Sheehan Messonnier (Bernie), 92 passed away on November 15, 2022. She was born March 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Ursula Donahue Sheehan and Lawrence J Sheehan in New Orleans, La. She graduated from Saint Stephens High School in 1949.
She married her husband, Marcel James Messonnier, on August 17, 1960 whom she met while working together at Shell Oil Company. They were married for 39 years until his death in July 1999. Bernie was proud of her Irish heritage and being from New Orleans. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and playing tennis. Attending daily Mass, receiving the Eucharist, and offering daily prayers were the foundation of Bernie’s day. She lived her life with a servant’s heart volunteering in many capacities at St. Frances de Sales, Saint Agnes Academy, Strake Jesuit, St. Anthony of Padua and both Methodist and St. Luke’s Hospitals.
She is survived by her children Shawn Messonnier and daughter-in-law Sandra Messonnier, Erin Clapp, Tim Messonnier and daughter-in-law Stephanie Messonnier, Terrence Messonnier, grandchildren, Erica Messonnier, Katelyn Clapp, Andrew Clapp, Mary Messonnier and Daniel Clapp. Preceded in death by her husband, Marcel, brothers TJ and Lawrence Sheehan, and sisters Rita Sill and June Calderone.
Serving as pallbearers are Tim Messonnier, Shawn Messonnier, Terrence Messonnier, Andrew Clapp, Daniel Clapp and Kevin Sheehan.
