He was born in Ennis, Texas on January 8, 1928. He graduated from St. John’s Catholic Church School. He was married to Julia Frances De Cardenas on February 14, 1953. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden on the family farm where he also participated in wild hog trapping due to their incessant tearing up of his carefully planted and cared for garden. He also enjoyed hunting deer on his favorite lease each year with his friends and family.
Mr. Mahdak worked as a commercial flooring contractor at Maco Floors for many years. He served as a member of the VFW Post 6796. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Mahdak is survived by his wife, Julia; son, Andrew Mahdak, his wife, Jonye; daughter, Laura Mahdak Gosnell, and her husband Jim; grandchildren Andrew Zachary Mahdak, Sean Houston Mahdak and Sean Gosnell, as well as 5 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his eight brothers and sisters, Carolyn, Wilma, Mary, Francis, George, Lewis, John, Gerald; many other friends and family and his beloved cat, Tweety.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral will take place at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 11:00 am with a graveside service at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:15 pm. A reception immediately following the graveside at VFW Post 6796 on Garland Rd.
