Bernice Jackson

Bernice Jackson, 88, passed away on July 31, 2024, She was born on August 8, 1935, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Bishop and Ollie Mae (Sanders) Smith. Bernice attended school in Nacogdoches, Texas. She married Earnest Medford, with whom she had 11 children. After Mr. Medford passed away, she met and married Elder Johnny B. Jackson, remaining together until his death.

Bernice Jackson founded and pastored Bibleway to Calvary Church from 1980 to 2013. She was also a mother of New Covenant Christian Ministries-Dallas, where she was a faithful and loyal member and financial backer. In addition to her parents, Bishop and Ollie Smith, she was predeceased by her two husbands, Earnest Medford and Johnny B. Jackson, and five sons, Billy Smith, Earnest Leon, Earnest Dwayne, Kenneth, and Emmanuel Medford.

She is survived by her children: Ronnie Smith of Dallas, TX, Janice Marie Woodards of Dallas, TX, Rosemary Sneed (Emmett) of Dallas, TX, Ike Medford of Dallas, TX, and Mike Medford of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ellious and Jonathan Woodards, Dee, Ikeem Medford, and Emmett Sneed Jr., LynnRhonda, Amy, Ronreena, and Ukia Smith, Sheree, Shaetha, Leon, and Bernitha (Medford). Bernice was blessed with a special great-granddaughter, Baylea Woodards, along with many other great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a special friend, Mr. Will, and Apostle Sharon Wright and church family at NCCM-Dallas.
