Bertha Friedman

Bertha Kershner Bert was born in Dallas, Texas on September 21, 1926 to Charles and Tilli Barbosa. She attended local grade schools and proudly graduated from Highland Park High School. Bert was in the same class with the famous Doak Walker and Bobby Layne. She went to fly with the angels on October 2, 2016. Werner Friedman was the love of her life and preceded her in death in 1989. The happiest times were heading to Lake Dallas every weekend to fish, eat and enjoy the lake friends on their houseboat. She is preceded in death by her brothers Al and Charlie Barbosa and grandson Loy Buckner. Bert is survived by a large family, daughter Sharon Martindale (Billy); daughter Kathy Hagerman (Wayne); daughter Lynn Brummett (Craig); son Chuck Kershner (Meggan); daughter Leslie Brice (Rob); ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; brother Frank Barbosa (Carol); and sister Tilli Gold (Dick). Our last great moments with our mother and grandmother were spent celebrating her 90th birthday September 21st at Appletree Court. Bert was full of life and always smiling and happy to be around her kids and grandkids. She never criticized a soul or judged anyone. A visitation will be Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest. Services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at Sparkman/Hillcrest in Dallas, Texas with burial following. The family extends a special thanks to Appletree Court Assisted Living in Richardson and Vitas Hospice Care in Carrollton. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to either of these.
