

Bessie Lena (Greene) Moore, 86, died peacefully, on December 14, 2023, at Palomino Place in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on September 29, 1937 to Hayward and Laura Ann (Hill) Greene in Demopolis, Alabama. Both preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Demopolis, Alabama. Bessie, affectionally known to her family, as “Baby Sister”, graduated in May 1956 from U. S. Jones High School and moved to Birmingham, Alabama to further her education at Daniel Payne and Miles College. In 1957, she moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and later graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Chattanooga City College.
In 1959, she married the love of her life, Charlie Napoleon Moore, Sr. and to that union 2 children were born: Cherri Marisa (Moore) Lynch and Charlie Napoleon Moore, Jr. Throughout her adult life, she traveled in support of her daughter’s career, and lived in North Carolina, Georgia, Oregon, New Hampshire, Texas, Louisiana, and California. In 2006, she moved to Mesquite, Texas, with her daughter and served as a faithful member of Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church (MFBC) under the pastoral care of Reverend Terry Maurice Turner and Sister Nancy Turner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Warner (Bae Brother), James, and Eli (Buddy) Greene, 4 sisters, Hazel Almeater Greene, Annie Stine Greene, Mary (Doll) Brewington, and Bertha (Duck) Hill.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Cherri (Ernest) Lynch and son, Charlie (Jeanette) Moore, Jr., 3 grandchildren, Delnita, Delvin (Elisama) Moore, Shelton Walker Young, III, 7 great grandchildren, Jasmine McKenzie, Aiana, Alayah, Asa Young, Jada, Niyomi, Mirari Moore, 3 sisters, Cora Sharper of Jonesboro, Georgia, Johnnie Ruth Jefferson of Montgomery, Alabama, Annie Louise Greene of Brooklyn, New York, 2 brothers, Reverend Grady (Bubble) Greene of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Reverend Glenn (Junior) Greene (Bernadette) of Havelock, North Carolina, a devoted niece, Beverly Jean Greene of Montgomery, Alabama, a faithful and loving caregiver, Rosalind Amanda Canady, and other relatives and friends.
