

Bette Jean (Manske) Dickinson passed away peacefully in her sleep and entered into God's nearer presence on January 3, 2024. She was born on February 9, 1932, in Brownsville, TX to Otto and Edna (Witte) Manske. As an only child, she graduated in 1949 from Brownsville High School and entered Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She graduated in 1953 with a BS degree in Education and taught school in the DISD. In 1954, she married the love of her life, the late Dr. O. E. "Buddy" Dickinson after meeting him on a blind date at SMU while he was at Baylor Dental School. They spent several years in California while Buddy served in the Navy. Upon returning to Dallas, Buddy began a successful dental practice while they raised their two children, Becky and Bart, in the Park Cities.
Bette began an antique and design business that spanned over 25 years and included her business at Lovers Lane Antique Market and The Mews. She and Buddy enjoyed traveling around the globe always looking for antiques along the way. During her years, Bette was very active in many volunteer groups and organizations including the Dallas Junior League and The Woman's Club. She also loved the game of Mah Jongg and taught many friends to enjoy playing over the years.
She was loved by all for her red-headed spunk, especially by her family and many friends.
Bette is survived by her daughter, Becky Dickinson Wooley (John) of Jackson, MS; and son, Bart Dickinson (Susan) of Dallas. Also 5 granddaughters, Kari Wooley Vance (Jimmy), Lee Wooley Russell (Jordan), Marie Wooley Stewart (Adam), Leslie Dickinson and Audrey Dickinson, as well as 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dunagan Family Fund at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd, Dallas, TX 75205, or the charity of your choice.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 12, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in the Wynne Chapel, with a reception to follow.
