Betty Jo “Bones” Butler was born March 12, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo. and passed away on October 13, 2012. She grew up in Dallas and attended Highland Park High School. She married Tom Butler and they lived every moment, savoring life for the next 67 years. Bones never lost her spirit as she battled Alzheimer’s disease. She had an unwavering faith in God and was the heart of the family. A loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her husband Tom, her 6 daughters Jan Shay of College Station, Moira Fulton, Beth Potaniec and husband Steve, Shannon Jones and husband David, Erin Hirschhorn and husband Karl of Sea Island, GA, Kerry Poer and husband David. Also survived by 11 grandchildren : Angela Shay Beck and husband John, Shannon Shay Herring and husband Rob, Brian Fulton and wife Lauren, Blake Fulton and wife Jamie, Brooks Jones, Heather, Hannah, and Haley Hirschhorn, Laney Poer Booher and husband Brandon, Wesley and Kyle Poer. 8 great grandchildren: John, Claire, and Luke Beck, Shay and Thomas Herring, Savannah Fulton, Greeley Fulton, and Bryce Booher. She is also survived by her brother Bill Moore of Atlanta, GA. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
