

COLEMAN, Betty Frances O’Brien Foster, 92, passed away suddenly at her home on November 3, 2016. Betty was born in Dallas to Ethel Mary Whybark and Frank Edwin O’Brien on February 12, 1924. Betty is predeceased by her parents and step-father Walter M. Foster, her husband of 61 years James Gale Coleman and her daughter Gail Frances Coleman Ellis. She is survived by her daughter Cathie Coleman, grand-daughter Jamie Ellis and husband Sam, great-grand-children Coleman James Ellis, Jillian Grace Ellis and Landon Blake Ellis, and cousins Ann Braithwaite (Garlan), Jean Burnett (Bob) and Jean Ottina. Betty graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School where she was a varsity cheerleader and made many lifelong friends. The Coleman family moved to the Lake Highlands area in 1957 where Betty actively participated in PTA and other school functions on behalf of her daughters and grand-daughter. Betty was a devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years. Betty was most recently active in Mes Amies and the Bent Tree Literary Club. Above all else, she carried herself with class and grace and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grand-mother and loyal friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 848 Harter Rd., Dallas, Texas 75218. A reception will follow immediately in the parish hall.
