Betty J. Griffin was born December 10, 1921 in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Waldo E. and Ruth A. Finke. Ruth Allene Wilds the youngest sister and parents precedes her in death. At the age of eight, she and her sister began singing on the radio program "Stars of Tomorrow" as The Finke Sisters. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis in 1938, she sang over the radio and in night clubs until she met two other girls and formed a trio called "The Debs". During this period they met many of the major stars of the day and entertained the troops at over 500 camps during the World War II. Her singing career would bring her to Dallas where she met and married Norris W. Griffin. They were married in July 1950. In October 1964 the couple adopted their only child Allen W. Griffin. In 1969 her husband passed away of cancer. She worked at Dallas based in J.C. Penny Co. from 1972 until retiring in 1999.
