

Betty Jean Lohr Hilsher went to be with the Lord and Savior on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at 79 years of age after a long Battle with Lymphoma. She was born on January 28, 1933 in Ennis, TX. Her Mother was Juanita Mae Moore and she was raised by N. E. Lohr. She Graduated from Waxahachie High School June 4th 1951. Betty met John Hilsher in the Insurance Industry and he proposed to Betty at a Dude Ranch and married March 18, 1953. Betty and John moved to Hawaii where John was a Sergeant in the 25th Infantry Division. Betty and John had 5 children, Mark Hilsher born August 2, 1954. Marty Hilsher born December 26 1956, Michael Hilsher born July 31, 1961, Melinda Hilsher June 12, 1968 and Matthew Hilsher July 26, 1966. Betty was a homemaker for many years raising her children and contributing greatly to raising her grandchildren. Later in life Betty ran and managed St. Bernard School Cafeteria, managed the night shift at a Senior Home as a Licensed Practice Nurse, Volunteered at an AIDS Facility and worked as an In House Elderly Care provider. Betty was a member of St Ann Catholic Church in Kaufman, TX. She is also survived by 3 children, Mark Hilsher, Michael Hilsher and Melinda Hilsher; 4 grandchildren Jonathan Hilsher, Blake Hilsher, Blair Hilsher, Joshua Short and 1 sister Dorothy Briggs. She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband John Hilsher, sons Marty Hilsher and Matthew Hilsher, brother Charles Berry and sister Fannie Mae Stanley. Memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 5th at 12:00 pm in the North Mausoleum Chapel located on the grounds of Calvary Hill Cemetery, with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society. Betty Jean Hilsher Loved Life with her Family, Children and Grandchildren more than anything, she also loved Nature, Animals of All Kinds and especially Dogs (Hope was her favorite). Jean was very much loved and will be missed by all.
