Betty Bruce Henry Howard passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Farmersville, TX. She was born January 27, 1934 to George Bruce and Carrie Lee Walker Henry in Dallas, TX. She was married to Tommy Joe Howard on November 3, 1956 at Grace United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX. They were married for 58 years at the time of his passing in 2014.
Prior to becoming a devoted homemaker, she worked for an independent drilling contractor company as well as being the executive secretary to Henry Neuhoff II of Neuhoff Bros. Packers, Inc. in Dallas, TX.
Her love of travel and the outdoors took her to all 50 states as well as Japan, Canada, and Mexico. In her adventures, she drove four-wheelers and snowmobiles, went zip lining, river rafting, flew in hot air balloons, and went skydiving for her 80th and 90th birthdays.
Furthermore, with her fun-loving nature, it is easy to understand why she had such a fondness (obsession) for all things Mickey Mouse. She loved crafting, crocheting, and oil painting. She was an avid reader, you could always find her in church on Sunday, and she was never very far from a Hershey’s bar and a Dr. Pepper!
Betty and Tom had 3 children, Darby Howard, Diane Eubank and husband Charlie, and Phil Howard and wife Tenna; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters Martha Hall and Sue Shoemaker, and 1 niece, Holly Totten.
She was Betty, mom, Aunt Betty, and…she was Buddie, a name given by her eldest grandson and a title she held proudly. She was full of life, courageous, strong-willed, and venturesome; the lessons she taught will not soon be forgotten and her spirit will live on in us all.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Little Bethel Memorial Park 1803 S. Cedar Hill Rd in Duncanville, TX 75116.
In lieu of flowers, Buddie’s wishes were for donations to be made to the Farmersville, TX library.
