Betty was born on August 8, 1949 in Athens, Texas to Hildred Ross Sr. and Jessie May Ross, who raised her with endless love and care. From a young age, she had a tenacious spirit, and a smile that could brighten any room.
She studied at Lincoln High School and went on to build a meaningful career as a nurses aide as well as cosmetology, where her kindness, dedication, and integrity touched many lives. Outside of work, Betty had a passion for fashion, attending Christian conferences and gardening.
Her wit, laughter, and strength will always be remembered.
She is survived by her children, Valicia Jackson (Hilbert Jackson Sr.), Tammy Plunkett (Jonathan Plunkett Sr.) and Sonya Mathews.
Her grandchildren, Ashley, Brittney, Jonathan Jr. Hilbert Jr., Ashton, Elijah and Jibril. Great grandchildren, Nolan, Nora, Brady, Kobe, and Kaleb. Siblings, Doris Jean Babers, Billy Joe Ross, Ben Ross, Barbara Evans, and many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by Hildred Ross Sr., Jessie May Ross, Patricia Lacy, Hildred Ross Jr., and Delores Nix.
We take comfort in knowing they have welcomed her with open arms. Though her loss leaves deep sorrow, we find peace in the beautiful memories she left behind.
