Betty Hataway Wallace, our “Granny”, was born on March 11, 1931 in El Dorado, Arkansas and peacefully went home to Heaven on January 10, 2024 after a long illness in Allen, Texas. Betty was a vivacious, vibrant, beautiful and extremely classy lady. She was a Drum Major, Junior League member, church volunteer, philanthropist and world traveler. Betty loved jazz music, crossword puzzles, BSF and church Bible studies, exquisite tea parties, cruise ships, chocolate ice cream and Butterfinger candy. Together, Betty and husband Bill transformed many children's lives through church ministries, the UNT Music program and Buckner International Ministries. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, incredible mother-in-law, Grand and Great-Grandmother, a cherished friend to the Shreveport Six, the Crazy 8's, BFF Charlotte and many friends at Prestoncrest and Waterview Church's of Christ.
During these last few years of Betty's life, her daily care was lovingly given by the Bluebonnet Memory Care staff at Christian Care Communities/Allen and New Century Hospice/Dallas. Betty's family offers much appreciation and admiration for those tremendous care efforts.
Betty is preceded in death by her devoted husband of more than 60 years, Billy Thomas Wallace (“Gramps”), her parents Rufus and Edith (Boyd) Hataway, Step-Father, Wheeler, her beloved Aunt Alice and infant baby brother, Bobby.
Betty is survived by her son, Jeff Wallace (wife, Gail Blacketer Wallace), Grandson, Jon Wallace (wife, Rosalyn Irene Wallace), Granddaughter, Kalea Wallace McCloud (Husband, Ross Brown) and Great-Grandchildren, Evelyn Irene Wallace, MacKenzie McCloud, Bailyn McCloud, Ethan Brown and Aaron Brown. Survivors also include many valued extended family members and friends.
Betty Hataway Wallace's internment will be a private family service to be held at a future date. The family thanks you for your love of our Betty/Mom/Granny.
