Will Cunningham, Jr. (Bill), 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 20, 2019 in Fort Worth. He was born to Reverend Will and Lula Mae (Moseley) Cunningham on January 13, 1931, in Spur, TX. He was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. He attended various schools in central Texas before graduating high school at Southwestern Bible Institute in Waxahachie. While in high school, he traveled around Texas singing in a Gospel singing trio with two of his sisters.
Bill joined the United States Air Force in 1950, and married the love of his life, Sandy, in 1953. They had two children and lived in various locations around the United States and the Philippines. He retired from the Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls after twenty years of service and moved to Duncanville, when he began a career in Dallas with United Artists Theaters. After retirement from United Artists, Bill and Sandy retired to Lake Whitney, where they lived until Sandy’s death in 1997. Bill then moved to Plano for a short time, and then to Corpus Christi to be near his siblings. He later moved to Fort Worth.
Bill is survived by his daughter and son in law, Terri and Tim Freer of Weatherford; his son, Gary Cunningham of Dallas; grandson Ryan Willmon of Frisco; and granddaughter and grandson, Taylor and Carson Cunningham of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
