Dear friend I miss you and so glad you were in my life.

I'm going to miss your wisdom, insight, wit and friendship Billie. You have been a tremendous role model for so many.You've been the best Granny to Bobby and all of your grandchildren...the number of selfless things you've done for them, myself and so many others is beyond measure.  You always came from a place of kindness, decency and generosity of heart and spirit. You were always a voice of reason and good old fashioned common sense and I refer back to your words SO often in my life when faced with confusion or dilemma. You're one of the best people I've ever known Billie Clay. I will be forever grateful for your friendship.  The sky gained a beautiful, funny and extra sparkly star in you. I love you my friend.

 Billie was the very epitome of the word "feisty."  You could count on her to tell it like it was, too.  She watched over our San Lorenzo neighborhood from her arm chair at her front window, as our younger kids, especially the boys, grew up with her grandson Lacy.  Her backyard pool was the neighborhood pool; her front door was the neighborhood kids' revolving door.  And she was unfailingly kind and generous to any and all.  She will be sorely missed.

Billie Ray, who knew this many people loved and respected you?  Just kidding sweet lady.  It is so fitting that so many of your non-blood "extended family" have shared their thoughts and love.  I agree with Sandy, the stories are so numerous it is hard to know where to begin.  And, it is so heart-warming to see the love and respect that is being shared by all.

I can say for a fact that the feeling was mutual as it relates to all of you who have written.  As John says, "she was kind and genuine" and we have all been lucky to be the beneficiaries of her wisdom.

And, Grandson Bobby, I sure hope you are right about that strength because right now I find it difficult to accept what it will be like without Billie Ray telling me what to do or calling me to ask about something she saw in the paper.  They broke the mold with this lovely lady.

Billie and Bobby were our best friends and neighbors for many many years.We considered them family.She was a fun person to be around!We loved her and Bob dearly.Saundra and Steve were like our Children as well.I'm sure my wife Bonnie and my Son Scott were there with the other saints to welcome her home.

Billie reminded me of my own mother is some ways but she was much more even handed. In a family matter many years ago her primary (if not her only) concern was her Grandson, Bobby who along with Steve Clay I now call son. She was kind and genuine and her life experiences showed in the wisdom she imparted to those she knew. She was always willing to help and called 'em like she saw them and that made me instantly feel a closeness with her. She will be missed but not forgotten.

Billie Clay was one of the shining lights.  Her sense of humor and love of family radiated out to all around her.  You knew immediately that family was most important to her, but not just hers. Whenever I saw her (all too seldom) over the years, she always asked about my sons and my grandson.  Not just to be polite, but because she was truly interested.  There are too few "Billie Clays" in this world, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Bon Voyage, Billie, on your next great adventure.--

My grandmother was truly one of a kind. She meant the world to us grandkids. She was a shoulder to cry on, a back to lean on and an ear to listen. She would do battle for us at the drop of a hat. We lost the mast in our family's ship on Friday at 4:45pm but we will learn to carry on. She taught us that kind of strength.

Gosh, there's not enough space to reflect on all the Wonderful Memories of Mrs.Clay...she was like a 2nd Mother to me. The Clays lived across the street from us. She was a Lady...a real Hoot!!! She watched me grow, was there for my Wedding and the birth of all mine and Dougs children...she was fun to Party with, and gave good sound advice when asked...The Woman was very OPIONATED!!!' My Parents ADORED her. Our Families did so many things together...from playing poker to putting puzzles together. Oh lord, Steve and I would cringe when we all went out to eat, knowing it would be Mrs. Clay, or my Daddy that would embarrass us to where we would want to crawl under the table!! Haha!! We went on vacation to the ocean together, had a blast!!! I still can't believe that My Daddy and Mr. Clay would allow our moms to go and Greet the Cowboys at LOVE FIELD when they got off the plane...at MIDNIGHT!!! Back in the day when we had no central air, you could hear Mrs.Clay and my momma, Screaming GO COWBOYS!!!!!! Or a few other choice words...ha!!!! So much I could continue to write, but This Lady......will TRULY be missed.....we Love you Mrs. Clay.........Sandy & Doug Gaddis

I meet Billie when she worked with my mom Carole.Her and my mom where best of friends and always telling stories about their children.Never a dull moment in our families she will be missed.Loved our conversations I'll miss talking to her she always had good advice for me.
