Blaise's life began in Abilene, Texas, where he was born to Murrell Douglas Thornton and Glenn Murray Jones - two people whose passion for medicine stayed with Blaise long after they preceded him in death.
Blaise grew up in Lubbock and graduated from Coronado High School in 1972. With Lubbock in his rear view mirror, he attended Austin College with a desire to pursue medicine. Following his graduation from Austin College, his professional passioned journey in medicine began as he attended UT Southwestern Medical School where he met his wife Ann. Blaise graduated medical school and began an internship at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California.
After California, he began a successful and rewarding residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in diagnostic radiology, where he was Chief Resident and completed ultrasound and neuroradiology fellowships. In 1986 Blaise moved his family back to Dallas and joined a small private practice group (at the time), Texas Radiology Associates "TRA", where he worked until his retirement in 2021. As a testament to his commitment to patients and in honor of his impact on the community, Baylor Medical Center in Frisco dedicated their Radiology Department in his name.
The mention of schools, programs, and graduation dates only sketches the outlines. Blaise was uniquely gifted and dedicated. From early on in high school throughout his academic and professional career, Blaise received the highest of accolades. He set a standard of excellence as a doctor and a person who we should all strive to emulate. In the dark world of lines and curves that characterizes radiology, some described him as frighteningly brilliant. He could see patterns that led to correct diagnoses that helped or saved countless lives. He truly left this world a better place than he found it.
Blaise was a devoted physician, husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family, the practice of medicine and his animals. He enjoyed spending time at the family lakehouse, where he taught family and friends how to water-ski. He loved football and knew college football stats as well as any expert.
Blaise is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Ann, their three children Caroline (Wesley), Rebecca and Douglas, grandchildren (who were named for their grandfather) John Warren "Jack" and Charles Blaise "Charlie", and siblings Blair and Stacy.
Services will be held at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas, Dallas, Texas, in The Saint Michael Chapel on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 4:00 pm.
Charitable contributions may be made to the SPCA of Texas directed towards, in the memo line, "Blaise Jones memorial".
