

Bobbie Jean Calhoun, born May 28, 1935, is the daughter of the late Robert and Sadie Calhoun and the late Jack Griggs. Bobbie Calhoun attended and graduated from the Public Schools of Dallas Independent School District. On November 14, 1954, married Billy Pat Robinson, Sr. In 1955, they opened their own business and had been self-employed for over 58 years. Mrs. Robinson is a member of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist church, a faithful mid-week prayer service attendant, member of the Elders Wives Board, Sunday School, Courtesy Committee, and Sunshine Circle (Mission No. 1). She served as General Mission Program Chairman, Women’s Day Program Chairperson, and Special Merit and Project Committee Chairperson of the Courtesy Committee.
Mrs. Robinson favorite Bible Scripture is Proverbs 3: 5-6, which states “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding”. Her favorite song is Blessed Assurance. Inspirational quote, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Mrs. Robinson advice to other generations was, “Trust in God”.
Mrs. Robinson was the youngest woman to ever receive the Galilean Torch. In 1960, she organized the Cleotha Youth Fraternity.
In 1974, she made a TV appearance on Channel 11 for Bishop College in a program called Parental Involvement Training Program representing Roosevelt High School; appeared in books and papers for Dallas Independent School District, for the Dallas City Council for PTA’s, and a mentor. Mrs. Robinson has read the resolution for over 35 years at Golden Gate Baptist Church.
Mrs. Robinson awards include: Woman of Noble Character; Courtesy Committee, Naomi Circle (Mission); Woman’s Day General Mission (Golden Gate Baptist Church); Drummer Award Texas PTA; Outstanding Family Award O.W. Holmes PTA; PTA President Award – O. W. Holmes; and Outstanding Service Award.
Mrs. Robinson belonged to the following organizations: YMCA, NAACP, YWCA, Delta Mothers and Friends Club, and a Life member of the Texas PTA. She was a supporter of the Foreign Mission Board NBC of America for over 20 years.
In the past 46 years, she has served as a church, school, and community volunteer (Red Cross, YWCA, Easter Seal, Community Chest, American Heart Association, and Muscular Dystrophy). For over 15 years Mrs. Robinson worked with the Texas PTA.
Mrs. Robinson, leaves to mourn a loving husband of 59 years Billy Pat Robinson, Sr.; one daughter, Barbara Billette Robinson; one son, Billy Pat Robinson, Jr. (Dianne); three granddaughters, Marcia R. Nickerson (Brian), Ashley Robinson-Crow, and Tiffany Robinson; one great-grandson Chase Robinson, and one great-granddaughter Sydney Roberts; two brothers, Floyd Griggs and Earl Griggs; and a host of other family relatives and friends.
