Bobby attended Hazelwood Central High School in Florissant, MO, and graduated from the University of Connecticut, where he earned All-American and Big East Honors. He moved to Dallas in 1999 after being drafted by the then Dallas Burn. Bobby spent 10 years playing the sport he loved for the Dallas Burn and FC Dallas. Bobby was special, and he was my friend. I first met him coaching club at FCD, but enjoyed more the time he took to be different and special to anyone he met. I coach high school at Wakeland across the street from PHP. He may have never known it, but he made me a better soccer coach and father just because of who he was. God Bless the Rhine family.

I learned of Bobby's death on Tuesday from a fellow soccer mom. Bobby coached our sons on an ASG team and although we had not seen him for a couple of years, the impact he had on us and our children was great. My son still plays soccer and when I see him make an especially awesome move or score a goal in a unique way, I will compliment him and he responds, "I learned that from Coach Bobby Rhine." I had to figure out a way to tell my 11-year-old son that at age 35, Coach Bobby was gone. Too early. Too young. Too soon. Too hard to explain why. There is no reasonable explanation. I still cry because Bobby Rhine was the kind of man and coach that you never forget and that you hope your child can be like some day. Bevan, I also had the pleasure of meeting you on a Saturday when the boys had an indoor game in Dallas. Miller had just been born and we got to ooh and ahh over the baby while Bobby stood back with such a look of pride and love it was inspiring. He wore his heart on his sleeve and I am sorry he was taken from you and the boys so early. I know people say to be glad for the time you had but it isn't fair it ended so soon. I know you are strong for your sons but know you need time to grieve for the husband you lost. I hope it helps to know just how much your husband meant to soooo many people. And the way he remembered names...incredible!! I know our family will never forget him. I hope for the best for you and your beautiful sons; they will do things constantly that will remind you of their daddy. So Bobby will live on...through them, through you and through all of our memories of him. Take care....

I first learned about Bobby in the proud words of his grandpa Glenn who I worked with at Alvey Inc. Glenn's face would always light up when he talked about Bobby.
Some years later, I had the pleasure of coaching with Bobby's dad who also told me many proud stories of his son. One chilly night at a park in Kirkwood, MO, Bobby showed up to help coach when his dad was out of town. I coached the first half and we couldn't get the ball over half field. At halftime Bobby gave the girls a few pointers and they went out and scored 2 goals in the first 10 minutes!
What inpressed most about Bobby was not so much his soccer prowess, but his spirit. Bobby's positive energy was magnetic and helped our girls gain confidence in what they could accomplish.
I had the unique pleasure of hearing about Bobby in words and then later meeting him in person. I am happy to report that he lived up to every kind word his Grandpa and Dad ever used to describe him! I am devastated for his family...they will be in my prayers!

Bevan..Our hearts go out to you, the boys and your families. It has been our honor to be a part of life with Bobby in it. As you know, he was one of the most genuine people put on this earth and his life extends beyond our circle of friends. Taken too soon, understatment, but his legacy will shine for generations. Jake and Miller will be proud to call him "Dad" and as a father myself, I am absolutely heartbroken for your families loss. His friendship will not be lost and will make me strive to be a better person and father everyday. Our deepest condolances to you and your families and may God give you the strength to share the light of Bobby's love. We are always here for you!

I had the absolute pleasure of getting to know Bobby during my short time living in Dallas. Even if you only met him once, somehow you could never forget him. He was a shining example of how a human being should be. The world was a better, funnier place with him and we will all miss him greatly. All our best to you Bevan, boys, and the Rhine and Brooks families.

You will not know me, but my wife Sue and I (John Minick) are very good friends with Bobby's grandad & grandmother, Glenn and Blanche Rhine of Florissant MO. They talked about Bobby and I burned a DVD for them from another DVD of Bobby announcing a game. He was great! I can tell from all the tributes, that he has received on line that he was a lot like his grandad Glenn, one of the finest men I've ever known. Sue and my prayers go out to Bobby's wife and children, and to the whole Rhine family.
God bless you all!

Bobby...you will be missed. I cannot think of another person that was as kind, caring, positive, and just all around as great of a guy as you were. You and Bevan were so patient with me and my dad the first time we met at the golf course. I enjoyed getting to know you, your family, and circle of friends. I am saddened to think that there are people in this world that will never have the pleasure of meeting you and getting to know you as a genuine person and friend as I had the pleasure. My deepest sympathies go out to your family.
You will be remembered, friend.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
