

Bonnie Mary Winikates, 89, passed away on March 12, 2015, in Dallas, Texas. Bonnie was born on April 22, 1925, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Frederick Anthony Eichorn and Augusta Monica Friedel Eichorn. Bonnie graduated from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga and The University of Chattanooga (now University of Tennessee at Chattanooga). She was a classically trained pianist at the Cadek Conservatory under Harold Cadek. She moved to Dallas in the early 1950’s where she taught math at Adamson and Sunset High Schools. She met and married the love of her life, Charles John “Chuck” Winikates. They were married for 55 years, and raised 5 children. Bonnie and Chuck were founding members of St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas, and remained parishioners until their deaths. They were members of the Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre. She enjoyed playing tennis and Bridge, driving her children and their friends all over Dallas for games, debates, and speech tournaments, serving on the school board and mother’s clubs, hosting parties, and punching lunch cards on Fridays at St. Rita. After raising her children, she became the President of the Prosper State Bank – a position that she held until after she turned 80 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frederick Anthony Eichorn, Jr.; husband; infant daughter, Mary Augusta Winikates; and son-in-law, Charles Richard Hutti, Jr. She is survived by her children: Charles John Winikates, Jr. and his wife, Frances Anne Fazio Winikates; Bonnie Mary Hutti; Catherine Leslie Winikates; Regina Mary Mentesana and her husband, David James Mentesana; Mary Elizabeth Winikates; her grandchildren: Charles Richard Hutti, III; John Winikates Hutti; Matthew Philip Mentesana; Mary Augusta Hutti; Catherine Anne Mentesana; Emily Anne Mentesana; Charles John Winikates, III; and her beloved caregivers, Francis Gonzalez Simental and Patricia Rivera. A Rosary and visitation will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2015 at St. Rita Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 at St. Rita Catholic Church.
