Brian Joseph Gilmore, age 36, passed away on October 6, 2023 in Ravenna, Texas. He was born on June 30, 1987 in Dallas, Texas to Ralph Curtis Gilmore and Maria Carmen Gilmore. Brian was raised in Dallas where he attended Robert E. Lee elementary, Robert T. Hill junior high, and Woodrow Wilson high school.
He worked for his family business at Gilmore Produce on and off for several years.
As a youth Brian enjoyed his time reading, fishing, playing video games with his friends, swimming, riding his bicycle, skateboarding, and running around the neighborhood with his friends. He was known as the funny one as well as a protector. He was charismatic, intelligent, and loving. If you had Brian’s love, you had his loyalty. Brian was always searching for his place to belong, and in his teenage years that was with his family.
As a young adult, Brian began having struggles with life. Brian began a long and hard life away from family and friends. For more than 15 years Brian had an addiction that was very difficult to overcome. Finally, after all those years away from home, he found inner peace in his heart. Brian volunteered to move to the family farm in Ravenna, Texas, where he would be isolated and away from all the urges and temptations that haunted him for so many years. It worked. Soon after settling in, Brian called a local church, Northside Church of Christ in Bonham, Texas, and they welcomed him immediately. Brian would be picked up by church elders, and on the ride to the church he would tell his life story. Brian was always so excited to get to go to the church that he would put a chair by the roadside to sit in and make sure he would not miss his ride to church. Brian was at peace with himself and told his mother that he had begun to love himself for who he was. Not long after regular attendance, Brian was baptized by the Holy Spirit. We saw Gods work take hold of Brian. He was back to his warm, charismatic, and tender hearted self. In the short time Brian was at Northside, he touched many hearts with his openness and charismatic personality. Brian would always sit up front and sang the church hymns with conviction. He told his mother he was so happy with his new life and how much he loved his new home in Ravenna. Brian acquired a new companion in Lucky, a dog he and his mother adopted at a local market. He would take Lucky for long walks around the 83 acre farm to help pass the time and gather his thoughts. Brian began to know Christ and gave his heart and soul to God. A couple of months after being baptized, God’s Angels came and took him to Heaven. We love and miss you dearly Brian. Amen.
Brian is survived by his parents, Ralph Curtis and Maria Carmen Gilmore, and his brothers, Roman Victor Flores and Ralph Curtis Gilmore Jr.
His family will always remember him as charismatic, the life of the party, and someone who was very tender hearted and kind to those around him.
