Brooks Love was born on February 2, 1966, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas Texas to John and Bobbie Love. Brooks passed away on April 26, 2024, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas Texas after a long illness. He attended St. Bernard School and graduated from Bishop Lynch High School.
Brooks led an exemplary life filled with dedication, passion and service to others. Mr. Love made significant contributions to the Dallas community and beyond through his distinguished career, leaving an indelible mark on those he served and lives he touched.
Brooks held positions with the Dallas County Democratic Party, serving as the Political Director, and then as the Primary Director. During his time with the City of Dallas he served as the Community Programs Coordinator for Keep Dallas Beautiful, and Brooks played a pivotal role in enhancing democracy by overseeing election activities as Elections Manager for the City of Dallas. He was passionate about ensuring fair and transparent elections. He earned respect for his expertise and integrity. He was the “go to” person when you had a question regarding elections. He demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, and fostered key partnerships with various groups to address community needs.
In 2006 he launched Brooks Love Consulting where he coordinated and managed candidates and initiative campaigns within Dallas County including city, county and state. He supervised campaign staff, canvassers and volunteers, managed campaign budgets. He wrote numerous speeches, drove significant infrastructure projects, managed high-profile campaigns, and raised substantial funds for candidates and organizations; and Brooks was appointed to the City of Dallas Redistricting Board, showcasing his expertise and commitment to civic engagement. He was also an active member of The Election Center - The National Association of Election Officials, staying well-informed of industry best practices.
Brooks began his Dallas County Career in 2011 as Chief of Staff to Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Elba Garcia, District 4, providing invaluable guidance and leadership, making policy recommendations, and spearheading public engagement strategies to benefit District 4 constituents and all residents of Dallas County. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, integrity, and commitment to improving the lives of others.
Mr. Love leaves behind a legacy of achievements with his dedication to education and professional development. He successfully obtained a Certified Elections Registration Administrator certification from Auburn University and the Election Center, graduating in Fall 2021. Mr. Love graduated from the Dallas County Leadership & Management Academy in June 2020, further honing his leadership skills. Additionally, Mr. Love held a Public Administration Certificate from El Centro Community College, demonstrating his strong foundation in public service. His dedication extended beyond his professional endeavors, as evidenced by his membership on the KERA Community Advisory Board, where he contributed valuable insights to community initiatives.
His legacy is not only marked by professional achievements, but also by the dedication he had towards his family. Brooks was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and cherished co-worker, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his mother Bobbie Love, his son Patrick Love, grandson Axel Love, sister Michelle Love and niece Savannah Landis.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends. For over 30 years he and his friends were in a Fantasy Football league. Brooks won multiple times, including this year.
The Dallas County community suffered a great loss with the passing of Mr. Brooks Love, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by all who were touched by his wisdom, kindness and leadership.
