It's been many many years, and I didn't know when he passed away.   I met him at first in 1991 at the old "Beefsteak Charlies" restaurant in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.  The last time I saw him was in late Summer of 1997.  Thereafter, a bunch of us went to "Wheelers" - - a restaurant/bar that was on the same street.    He was always kind to everyone.  Some people didn't understand his sarcastic inflection.  He was born, I think, in Bayside, Queens.   Many people who were born in the metropolitan NYC area have a sarcastic inflection to their voice.     I was born in Northern Westchester, so I never really understood some of the sarcasm, but I do now.
