He moved to Dallas as an infant and lived there until his death. He graduated from Sunset High School. He matriculated to Texas A&M University and the Corp of Cadets, Class of ‘45. A World War II veteran, he was a Second Lieutenant and a flight instructor in the US Army Air Corps. After the conclusion of the war, he returned to graduate from A&M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Alpha, and daughter, Caryl Ann.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Stephen Rehrig of McKinney, grandsons, Clay Rehrig of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Chad Rehrig and wife, Vanessa, of McKinney, with their children, Colston and Caroline. Also surviving, Lennie Lawler of Dallas, with whom he was fortunate to find love again late in life.
Following graveside services at Hillcrest Memorial Park, a memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, at the former John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 4151 Royal Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, LA, 71106 or the charity of your choice.
