Calvin Mike Johnson

Calvin Mike Johnson passed away the morning of June 12, 2013 at the age of 62. Mike was a native son of Texas who, after completing his studies at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and East Field Community College, decided in 1972 to follow in his father’s footsteps as a Public Service Officer in the Dallas Police Department. His father, W.A. “Cherry” Johnson, and his mother, Anna Pauline Parkinson Johnson, preceded him in death. He is survived by his two closest cousins, Bernette Johnson Eisele, and Shirley Lynn Johnson, as well as his beloved extended family of cousins- including David Eisele, Steve Eisele, Val, Van, Von, Monica, and Brian Eisele.

Mike loved working for the Dallas Police Department, but took an early retirement in 1989 to care for his ailing parents. A devoted son, he received special home-care training from Baylor Hospital’s Home Care Program. Following the death of his parents, Mike went into private security work at UTSW. Those close to Mike will remember his extraordinary dedication and devotion to those for whom he cared and of course, his ever present sense of humor during the worse and best of times. Funeral services will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 2:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
