Calvin Woods

Calvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age, was baptized at Riverside Baptist Church, and held a deep, abiding faith—always finding true joy and delight in sharing the Word of the Lord. Outside of church and sports, he loved music, fellowship, and bringing smiles to the faces of everyone he met.

He received his formal education through the Dallas Independent School District, attending Skyline High School where he proudly showcased his passion and talent on the basketball court. He was a shooting guard and proudly wore basketball jersey #11. Calvin averaged over 20 points or more per game.

Calvin united in marriage with his High School sweetheart, Sandra Ratcliff and from this union one son, DeVaurri was born.

Calvin possessed a natural, magnetic charm and a charismatic spirit that effortlessly drew people in. He had a remarkable gift for connecting with others, inspiring those around him with warmth,

laughter, and his quick wit.

Calvin was preceded in death by his grandparents; Willie and Malvin Black parents; Johnny and Marie Woods, and his older brother, Tommy Lee Woods.

His legacy of love and laughter will be carried on by his loving family. He is survived by: His son, DeVaurri Woods, DeVaurri’s mother, Sandra Woods, and his grandchildren, Amir and Kenya. His son, Marquez Hill, and his grandchildren, Marquez Jr., Kyson, and Kenzie. His siblings: Annie Glenn, Bobby Woods, and Dorothy Anderson. A host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
