Carl Eldridge Anderson, Jr. was born March 31, 1950, in Malakoff, Texas, to the parentage of Carl Sr. and Fayretta Anderson, and was the baby brother of two sisters, Carol and Sandra. Carl graduated from Malakoff High School in 1968, and continued his education at Henderson County Junior College and East Texas State University, where he studied Computer Science.
Carl married the love of his life, Benita, in 1971. From this loving union came three children Carl III, Tiffany, and Jonathan.
Carl loved God and served him faithfully. Growing up Carl attended First Baptist Church in Malakoff, where he accepted Christ at an early age. Upon marrying, Carl joined Benita at Griggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Homer D. Webb Sr., and Rev. E.C. Wilson. During his forty plus years as a member of Griggs Chapel, he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Male Chorus and Sanctuary Choir, a Youth Ministry liaison, and in many other capacities. Through the years Carl was also awarded and recognized as “Man of the Year” as well as “Pioneer Man”. In April 2022, Carl and Benita joined Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Vincent Parker. Carl looked forward to continuing his service unto God at his new church home as he’d done at Griggs Chapel.
Carl didn’t limit his service to ministry. He exercised the same servant leadership during his fifty plus years in the trucking/transportation industry. Until his untimely death, Carl was employed by Stevens Transport. Inc. as a Driver Manager, where he was well-loved by his drivers and co-workers.
Carl E. Anderson, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents Carl Sr. and Fayretta, and a sister, Sandra.
Prior to a procedure September 1, 2022, Carl had a conversation with his beloved Benita. During this conversation he stated, “Baby whichever way this goes, I want you to know, it is well with my soul.” Though the procedure went very well and recovery was going the same, Carl departed this earthly life Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 9:02 PM, at Methodist Charlton Medical Center.
Along with the love of his life for 51 years, Benita, Carl leaves to cherish his memories, his three legacies: Carl III (Coneicka Price), Tiffany S. Littlejohn (Steven), Jonathan (Jessie Grisham); five heartbeats (grandchildren): Caitlin R. Littlejohn, Seth M. Littlejohn, Krystal Anderson, Jonathan “Deuce” Anderson II, and Prince L. Anderson; sister, Carol R. Anderson; sisters-in-law: Fannie, Erma, Callie; brothers-in-law: Raymond, Cameron, and Ronald (Pamela); nieces, nephews, and cousins.
