Carl Walter Ely Jr., 81, passed away on October 10, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on January 21, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Carl Walter Ely, Sr. and Virginia Marie Cobb. Carl was raised in Irving, Texas, and attended Irving High School in 1963.
Carl married Lois Weeks and devoted more than 40 years of faithful service as a postal clerk, a life marked by steady commitment and dedication. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, and he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers. Those who knew him will remember him as a loving brother and uncle, someone whose care for family was evident in the simple, enduring ways he showed up and stayed present.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia, and his wife, Lois.
He is survived by his sister Marie Martinez (Gene) and Marie Ely. He is also survived by his nephew Michael Martinez, niece Michelle Hiller (J.D.), great niece Jennifer Martinez, and great nephew Jared Hiller.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
