Carmelita Valdez, 54, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1971, in Dallas, Texas, to Rebecca Cordova and Miguel Valdez. Carmelita was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from North Dallas High School in 1990. In 1995, she married Martin Mares, and together they built a loving home and raised four children.
Carmelita was the embodiment of strength, grace, and unconditional love. She was a self-respected, virtuous, humble, and selfless woman who touched the lives of everyone around her. Above all, she was an extraordinary mother—supportive, comforting, and deeply devoted. Her children were her entire world, and she took immense pride and joy in raising and loving them.
She is survived by her loving husband, Martin Mares Lopez; her four children, Martin Mares Jr., Valeria Rebecca Mares, Victoria Marie Mares, and Isabel Mares; her son-in-law, Eduardo Cisneros, who was like a son to her; and her eight cherished grandchildren: Martin Mares III, Bella Carmen Mares, Eduardo Cisneros Jr., Veanna Mares, Chanel Mares, Aniyah Mares, Miliano Mares, and Levi Vasquez. She is also survived by her mother, Rebecca Cordova, and her sister, Mirtha Anguiano.
She was preceded in death by her father, Miguel Valdez, and her brother, Edwardo Valdez.
Carmelita’s life was a reflection of unconditional love and devotion to her family. Being a mother was not just a role to her—it was her purpose, her passion, and her greatest accomplishment. Her legacy will live on through the lives she nurtured, the love she gave so freely, and the strength she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, reflects the strength she carried throughout her life: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
