Carmen Sotelo, 68, passed away Thursday September 16, 2021. Carmen was born May 21, 1953 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Jose Mendoza and Maria del Carmen Mendoza. Carmen was raised in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas as the second of six children.
Carmen married Homero Sotelo in 1974 and the couple had two children. She was a homemaker, sales person, cook and caregiver. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading her Bible, being involved in her church, along with spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed making daily calls to check in on friends and family. She kept every loved one in her prayers and made sure every birthday was remembered.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend and most of all, a devout woman that worshiped the Lord. Carmen was a kind, loving, beautiful soul and always had a smile on her face.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria del Carmen Mendoza and brother, Jorge Mendoza.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Sotelo; Angelica (Armando) Esquivel; grandsons, Nathan Sotelo and Marc Galindo; sister, Gloria (Rumaldo) Santos; brothers, Javier (Sylvia) Mendoza, Pedro (Lisa) Mendoza and Jose Luis (Maria) Mendoza. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
A visitation for Carmen will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, 3050 N Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75247. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at La Primera Iglesia Dallas, 3775 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75229.
