Carol A Gehring

Carol was raised in Alton, Illinois and later met and married Roy Edwin Gehring in Houston, Texas in 1952. The couple had five wonderful children, and Carol loved staying home with them and being a mother. In her spare time Carol enjoyed many creative endeavors which included china painting, oil painting, sewing, drapery making, upholstery, gardening and cooking. She especially liked animals. She loved her dogs and sitting outside to watch the birds and rabbits. Carol wore many hats; she was a Cub Scout leader and served in many ministries at Bethel Lutheran Church. She shared her gifts in the choir, bell choir, and several of the women’s circles. She was a devoted parishioner at Bethel Lutheran for over 62 years. Carol’s true love was her time with her children and grandchildren, attending symphonies, visiting the Dallas Arboretum as well as going on many family trips. She will always be remembered as a tender hearted loving mom, aunt, grandma, and GG (great grandmother) along with a true friend to so many.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Roy E. Gehring, and her parents, Thelma and Clyde.

Left to cherish Carol’s memory are her children: Jennie Horton and husband Roy, Randall Gehring, Bill Gehring and wife JoAnn, Karen Wood and husband Ron and Thomas Gehring. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren: Ryan Gehring and wife Taylor, Kristen Shah and husband Rajan, Erin Dillard and husband Drew, John Wood, Graeme Gehring, Baird Gehring as well as her great-grandchildren: Hayes, Rhett, Sloane, Warren, and Wells. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  

The family would like to thank Sunrise at Hillcrest Assisted Living and Faith Presbyterian Hospice for Carol’s final care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church as follows:

A visitation for Carol will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Followed immediately with Funeral Service at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228 with committal to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park
