Carol Anne Blandford Patterson of Dallas, Texas, returned to her heavenly home on July 7th, 2016 after a valiant 5 year battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in Jesus Christ supported her in this trial and ultimately gave her peace.
She was born in Dallas, Texas on February 28, 1944 to Charles Douglas Blandford of Colorado City, Texas and Marguerite Day Blandford of Baird, Texas.
Carol Anne graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and honoring her father’s wishes, entered into an undergraduate program at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. After pledging Chi Omega sorority and completing one year at TCU as promised to her father, Carol Anne followed her heart to the University of Oklahoma to become a Sooner. There she continued with Chi Omega and earned a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Upon completion of her degree and enjoying early success in a blossoming professional career in the banking industry, Carol fell in love and married a career Naval Officer. In doing so, Carol took on the role of Navy wife and instant mother of two young children, accepting all the challenges and joys it would present.
In addition to having impeccable taste as a gracious hostess whose dinner parties were held in high regard in the navy community, Carol managed to embark on a successful professional career. These endeavors included positions as a program manager at MITRE, Texas Instruments, and Pegasus Software as well as a role as a SAP development manager at Accenture. Carol took the wealth of experience from these positions and parleyed them into a successful career as a highly respected program manager in Corporate Infrastructure Services for Raytheon in their Garland, Texas office.
Carol Anne’s loving and endearing personality allowed her to establish friendships from her childhood, summers at Camp Mystic, college, Chi Omega and church which stood strong and active to this very day. Not only was Carol devoted to her career, children, 4 grandchildren, and friends, she had a vibrant relationship with her Lord and Savior. She applied her spiritual gifts through service as a member of Bent Tree Bible Fellowship. Her service included generous support of church missions, an active participant in life group fellowship, serving on the benevolence team, and most importantly as a leader in a late life education program called Turning Point. The mission focuses on all aspects of the aging process. Carol was an essential influence in facilitating its continued growth in the surrounding community.
She is survived by her son Deke Patterson, and his wife Kimberly Noelle Patterson of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughter Amy Patterson Leonard, and her husband Jeff Lee Leonard of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren Megan Lea Patterson and Garrett Keith Patterson of Harrah, Oklahoma; Ashley Kendall Leonard and Hannah Grace Leonard of Frisco, Texas; Sister Betty Lynne Dickerson of Midland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Captain Dale Kendall Patterson of Dallas, Texas in November of 2001.
Should friends desire, contributions in Carol's name to the charity she was actively involved and passionate about would be welcome.
