On January 4, 2018, at age 84, Carol Yvonne Ditto Reimer strolled through the pearly gates on high heels, with a cup of coffee (black, one Sweet N Low) in one hand, and a video camera in the other. She apparently stopped long enough to ask Jesus and a few of the Heavenly Hosts if they would mind stopping for “just one picture.” Then, she was surrounded by a large number of friends and family asking her to play a song on the Heavenly Steinway Grand.
Left to carry on her amazing legacy are her husband, Jim, her children Russell Reimer (Kathy) of Divide, CO, Denise McSpadden (Stonewall) of Garland, TX, Regina Manis (Mike) of Rockwall, TX, and Troy Reimer (Lisa) of Heath, TX. She also has 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Carol was born and raised in Dallas. She attended Crozier Tech High School and got married at age 17. A few years later, she learned to be a super-efficient comptometer operator. Besides raising 4, rowdy children, attending all their sports games, piano recitals, voice recitals, beauty contests, choir concerts, church parties, and various other activities, she was a District Manager for World Book Encyclopedia. Her favorite phrase while raising her children was, “we never guess, we look it up.” She instilled a love of learning and reading in the children that has been passed on to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was an accomplished pianist and well known in the Dallas area for accompanying her husband, Jim, as he sang for many, many church services, weddings, funerals and baptisms. Unknown to many, she was a self-taught artist and drew amazing “fashion models” and clothing in the 1950s.
Carol had an intense, yet gentle love for the Lord as shown by her Christian compassion and uncountable good works toward hundreds of sick, lonely, or bereaved people through the years. She was unfailingly generous and selflessly served her husband and children. She had an unimaginable work ethic, boundless creativity and absolute zeal in approaching each new day.
An obituary can’t even begin to tell the tale of Carol Reimer. So, if you want to hear the rest, you will have to come to the funeral. It will be held at Dallas First Assembly of God, 11000 Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75238. Graveside services will be at Grove Hill Memorial Park, located at 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, TX 75228, with a reception for family and friends to follow at Dallas First Assembly.
