
Carolyn Barney, 87, of Farmers Branch, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at home. She will always be remembered as a sister, loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and wonderful teacher to everyone that knew her.
Carolyn, known as “Kiki” to many and Aunt Kine to some, was born in Flournoy, Louisiana, on December 4, 1929, to H.H. and Sadie Haggard. A graduate of Greenwood High School in Greenwood, LA, she then attended Louisiana Tech, where she met her husband. Carolyn was listed in Who Who’s and a member of Theta Upsilon sorority. She received her teaching degree and taught in Carrolton-Farmers Branch School District for 26 years. She traveled the world with her family, was an avid gardener, loved flowers, had many friends and participated in many organizations throughout her lifetime.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Melvin Barney of Farmers Branch, TX; one daughter and one son; 5 incredible grandchildren and two GREAT-grandchildren, and sisters, Rosalie and Francis, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 19, 2017, followed by a reception. Online condolences can be made at http://www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
