I was Carolyn's student in German in the 80s. She was one of the most wonderful ladies I have ever had the privilege and joy of knowing in my life.

She really did care about people immensely and sincerely.

Even though I haven't seen her in about 25 years tonight my heart is filled with grief and sadness.

Ms. Herron taught me German at Brookhaven some 30+ years ago.  I remember her as an excellent teacher and a very kind person.  I'm very sad to hear of her passing, and I send my condolences and sympathy to her family and loved ones.

Carolyn taught me English literature and German language at Brookhaven almost 30 years ago.  She's one of the few educators I remember from my entire academic career, from kindergarten through college.  She really made an impact on me personally.  I'd been thinking about her quite a bit lately.  Now I know why.  I'm glad she's at peace now.  Thank you for all you did for me, Carolyn.  God bless you!

I didn't take a class from Miss Henenberg, but probably would have since I have German blood from my Dad. Instead, I chose Latin and Spanish thinking it would serve me better in the Texas area, and my Mother spoke Castillian Spanish. I remember her distinctly since she was always well dressed and beautiful. God rest her soul, and my condolences to her family

Carolyn was a dedicated, professional educator.  She was a beloved colleague of mine at El Centro College.  Among many fond memories was our Community College International Studies (CCIS) trip to Germany in 1989, after the Berlin Wall had fallen.  Her impeccable German saved our DCCCD group in numerous trip hassles.  She was a fun person and will be sorely missed.  My sincerest sympathy to David, Rosemary, and other family members.

Miss Henenberg was an inspiring teacher. She introduced me to German at Bryan Adams. I learned so much more than just German!  May God give peace to her loved ones.

I had Mrs Herron for one Lit class at Brookhaven College almost 30 years ago. I hadn't thought of her in years, but recognized her instantly from the obit in the Dallas Morning News.  I'm sorry to hear of her passing. She made a difference to me.

I was in Miss Henenberg's German class at El Centro in 1970. I always enjoyed her class. She inspired me to learn German, she was kind to everyone in the class, and we all enjoyed her humor and laugh. My sympathy to her family.

Carolyn was one of my most beloved teachers.  She helped motivate me to graduate from college.  She was warm, funny, and a joy to be around.  She went the extra mile to help her students enjoy and master German.  She will be missed.

'Miss Henenberg' was my German teacher for two years at Bryan Adams H.S.  She was a great teacher and her smile and style were unmatched.  I hope she knew that her students loved having her as a teacher as much as she loved teaching them,  My sincere  sympathy to all who loved her and who will miss her.

Miss Henenberg was one of my favorite teachers at Bryan Adams. She always seemed pleased with her students, and she was guilelessly nice. Because of her instruction, I was deemed proficient to teach German I at Gaston Junior High in the early 70's. I have thought about her often and the influence she had on my career.  My sympathy to her loved ones.

Like others who have posted here, I was a student at BA early in her career. I remember "Miss Henenberg" as a kind and sweet person who cared for her students. Because of her teaching I was able to skip beginning level German when I went to college.

I am saddened to hear of her death, and my thoughts are with her family.

To the husband and family of "Miss Henenberg," I was so sorry yesterday to hear from a Bryan Adams classmate that she had passed away. My late mother Virginia Barnes was a Latin teacher at Bryan Adams 1959-81 and thus came to know her well and to admire her greatly. I was a student at BA 1962-65. While, unfortunately, I did not have Miss Henenberg as a teacher - I took Latin, instead - I, too,really liked and admired her. I remember her as so beautiful, elegant,kind,always beautifully dressed,always smiling, soft-spoken and very intelligent. I can still hear her voice in my mind. I know she was one reason I chose to take two years of German at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. (I also met my husband in third-semester German class at KU!) Please know that your family will be in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve her loss. I know she had many, many people who admired and respected her. To the family of Carolyn Henenberg Herron, I was so sorry to hear of her passing from a Bryan Adams Class of '65 friend. My late mom, Virginia Barnes, was a Latin teacher at Bryan Adams High School 1959-81 and was thus a colleague of "Miss Henenberg." My mother thus came to know her quite well and to admire her. I knew her, too, as I was a student at BA 1962-65. Even though, unfortunately, I was never her German student (I took Latin, instead), I have many fond memories of her as well. Reading the DMN notice on Miss Henenberg's passing brought back many fond memories of El Centro College. She was so respected as both an instructor and even more as a “fashion plate” extraordinaire!  I worked as a secretary at the college back then, and remember her always sunny disposition and bright smile.  I was in her German class back in 1971!  If my memory is intact, I believe, David, you were also an instructor of art and that ya'll married around this time. Ah, enough of my maybe faulty memory. I just wanted to offer my condolences to you and her family. I am saddened to hear of her passing.  She was a wonderful instructor who obviously loved her work…and her students strived to be the best as a result. My sympathy to you all.
