Carolyn Jaffe Schendle was born October 5, 1946, in Dallas, Texas to Marie Weisberg Jaffe and Morris I. Jaffe and passed away July 10, 2021, in Dallas. She was a fourth generation Dallasite and particularly proud of her Dallas roots, including E. M. Kahn, founder of a department store by the same name; Alex Weisberg, the third winner of the prestigious Linz Award and namer of the Texas Longhorns; and her father, a prominent Dallas attorney. She graduated from the Hockaday School of Dallas and attended Newcomb College in New Orleans and the University of Texas at Austin. Before deciding to attend Newcomb (later Tulane University) she met her beloved husband Jim, who was attending Tulane at the time, at a wedding party in Dallas for mutual friends. She married the love of her life, Jim, in Dallas in 1967. After several years in Washington, D.C., they moved to Dallas where she spent the rest of her life with her beloved sons and family. She was Carolyn to her family and friends but Coco to her 8 beloved grandchildren whom she adored and showered with gifts at every opportunity (and shared endless photos of with friends). Generous to a fault she loved people and never met a stranger. Her loyalty to her family and friends was unlimited and unconditional. She lit up any room she entered and loved to host parties, particularly her annual Thanksgiving party for family where she displayed her championship delegating skills. She was beautiful and intelligent, often reading two to three books a week and was a Life Master at bridge, which she played religiously with a group of friends for over 40 years. Her love of travel, particularly to Europe, led her to develop lengthy handwritten guides for her sons when they first traveled overseas, which they in turn passed on to their friends when they traveled. Movies, television, musicals, art and opera brought her great joy and she always wanted to know what everyone was watching. She even dabbled in jewelry participating in several trade shows on behalf of her good friend the late Charles Skibell. More than anything she loved her family. In addition to her husband this included her three boys Jason, Matthew and Andrew, their respective wives Tabitha, Jean and Erin, and 8 grandchildren: Cooper, Lily, Miles, Margot, Mason, Eloise, Adelaide and Evangeline.
