It is with a mix of sadness and love that we announce the passing of Carrie Jo Wagliardo, who departed this life on May 21, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on January 2, 1933, to Luke and Mamie (Pirozzo) Wagliardo, Carrie Jo was affectionately known by her nieces and nephews as "the funnest aunt ever."
Carrie was a lifelong resident of Dallas and lived in the South Dallas, Lakewood, Lochwood, and Richardson neighborhoods. She was a proud graduate of Forest Avenue High School. Her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a lifelong and deeply involved member of First Assembly of God Dallas, attending its locations on Peak Street, Easton Road, and Northwest Highway throughout the years.
Carrie dedicated 45 years of service to a single company, beginning her career at Levine's Department Store on July 5, 1950, and retiring from Zales as a data librarian and scheduler.
More than her professional life, Carrie was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt who cherished her family above all else. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Jasper Luke Wagliardo and Mary Elizabeth (Wagliardo) Self.
She is survived by her loving nephews Rodney Wagliardo (Rene), Kyle Self (Jenny), and Kenton Self (Hope), and her niece Rebecca (Wagliardo) Courtney (Larry). She also leaves behind multiple grandnephews and grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces, numerous cousins, and a wide circle of friends who will miss her dearly.
Carrie was always ready for an adventure, frequently embarking on trips with her sister, niece, and nephews. Her love for travel took her to far-flung destinations including Russia, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Alaska, and Hawaii. Musically proficient, she played the mandolin, ukulele, piano, and violin. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed having her house filled with people. Known for her meticulous record-keeping, Carrie famously kept every tax return and receipt from every transaction she ever made.
