Catherine Taylor Fiser Armstrong, 79, passed away on September 30, 2012. Catherine was born on October 14, 1932 to Henry Bascum and Ola Catherine (Selby) Taylor in Justin, TX. A loving, generous and compassionate woman, Catherine’s love of laughter and life’s simple pleasures endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to enjoy her company. She was in the first graduating class of Northwest High School in 1950. Catherine’s sharp intellect and strong work ethic led to a long and successful career as an estimator for Bennett Printing Co. in Dallas. Catherine courageously endured many physical ailments for a number of years, inspiring all who knew her with a glowing positive demeanor in spite of those challenges. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rex Armstrong; brothers Kenneth, Homer, Charles and Douglas Taylor; and sister Betty Joe and her husband Lloyd Bartlett. Catherine is survived by her son Joe Fiser and wife Susan; granddaughter Kim and husband Jeff Smothers; brother James Taylor (Margie); sister Ola Mae (James Tabor); Armstrong stepchildren Rich “Gabby” (Dottie), Tom (Pearl), Mary Ann (Larry Singleton), Nancy French, Bill (Melody) and Hal (Lisa); Armstrong step-grandchildren Dori (Mario Calixto), Theresa (Morgan Davis), Richard, Melody (Josh Riney), Patrick, Christopher, Dominic, Linda, Hailey and Trent; Armstrong step-great-grandchildren Matthew Davis and Ashley Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, followed by a vigil Rosary service at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Guadagnoli on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11:30 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd., Dallas 75228. Interment will be 2:30 pm at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome and may be sent to St. Pius X Church for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, serving those in need in the community.
