

Catherine “Tink” Frost, 97, of Dallas passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022, at her home with family by her side. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Tink (Tinker) was born along with her identical twin sister, Margaret Cook Strickland, on November 23, 1924 ,in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Wihtred and Carruth Cook. She also had an older sister, Allison Cook Cutler. Tink graduated from the University of Michigan in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She met her future husband, Richard Marshall Frost, at the University of Michigan during World War II while he was studying naval architecture in preparation for service in the South Pacific.
They married on July 6, 1946, and settled in Dallas. They were married for 53 years. Tink and Rick had two children, Steve and Marcia. Tink was always involved in their school and sports activities.
Beside supporting her children, she was president of her Book Club, a life member of the Dallas Civic Garden Center, delivered for Meals on Wheels and she volunteered during political campaigns. She was a member of Little Sandy Hunting and Fishing Club, along with her husband.
Tink was a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, the Mary K. Craig class and Highland Park Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted volunteer at her church serving as circle chairman many times, chairman of the communion committee, and a beloved volunteer on Sunday mornings in the Kindergarten department for over 60 consecutive years.
Her Presbyterian roots go back to Scotland and her great-grandfather who was instrumental in establishing a Presbyterian church in 1831 at Saline, Michigan, near Ann Arbor. It is still active today.
Tink loved the outdoors and going to their country properties and the Hunting and Fishing Club with Rick. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and taking the family to Michigan to spend time with her family and to enjoy the beautiful lakes of Northern Michigan. She liked to read, play Bridge, work in her yard and spend time with her family who she dearly loved. In later years, Tink spent countless hours compiling a genealogy for us all to enjoy reading about our ancestors.
Tink is survived by her son, Dr. Steve Frost and wife Linda; daughter Marcia McGrann and husband Tom; twin sister Margo Strickland; four granddaughters, Maryann Hicks and husband Clay, Meredith Knickerbocker and husband Jonathan, Elizabeth and husband Dr. Dan Benson, Molly Laughter and husband Clay. She has seven great-grandchildren, Loren, Camryn, William, Logan, Grace, Alden and James and a niece and four nephews.
