Catherine "Kitty" Ritchie Holleman was born November 25, 1924, in Dallas, Texas. She departed this earth and was welcomed into her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 1, 2022, at 97 years of age.
We will miss her one-of-a-kind personality, open door policy with “no one’s invited but everyone’s welcome” and family-oriented life. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her “basketball boys” who knew her as “Grandma “Ritchie”, many who say they grew up as solid young men due to her influence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Halene and Metesser Lee Canfield; husband, Robert Field Ritchie; second husband, Malcolm Louis Holleman, Jr.; and her beloved dog, Bailey. Kitty is survived by her children: Allan Ritchie, Lee Ritchie and his spouse, Mindy, Ann Myers and her spouse, Phil, Kate DeLoache and her spouse, Averill, Sara Wood and Beth Kaye. She is survived by her siblings: Carolyn Canfield Lupton and Charles Lee Canfield and his spouse, Pat. Kitty is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Kitty joyfully embraced her Christian faith, inspiring many with her lavish generosity of spirit and faith in action. The Lord used her to bless countless numbers at her table during the years. She left a wonderful legacy of caring and hospitality. To God be the glory for a life well lived!
The family would like to give their sincerest thanks to her dedicated longtime helpers, Ermis and Maritza, whose continuing care allowed her to stay in her home of 72 years as she wished, and to Sam who kept her looking beautiful.
A visitation for Kitty will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, June 23. Burial service will occur at 9:30 AM Saturday, June 25, both at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX ,75225.
