Cecil E. Copeland, age 86, passed away on the 14th of September 2026 in Wills Point, Texas. He was born on the 23rd of July 1940 in Nashville, Arkansas to Edgar and Foy Dell Copeland. Cecil was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1958. He married Jean Wiley the 3rd of June 1958 and the couple had five children. He was a computer programmer at United Methodist Reporter where he worked for more than 20 years. In his spare time Cecil enjoyed working in the yard (his green thumb was outstanding), attending church and fellowship, and loved spending time with his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind, soft spoken man, gentle being. He was proceeded in death by, Jean Wiley-Copeland, Joy Copeland, Christopher Wayne Copeland, Valerie Jean Copeland, his mother and father and 10 of his siblings. He is survived by his sister Pearl Mann, Michael Copeland and his wife Rachel, Tammy Copeland-Smith and husband Terry Smith, and Melissa Copeland. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy in life was his family, he loved them with unmatched fierceness. Everything he did was rooted in his deep devotion to those he held dear. His greatest legacies were his steadfast faith in God and his profound devotion to his family. He walked through life guided by his beliefs, and his love for those he held dear was a true reflection of that grace and commitment.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 205 Main St, Lavon, TX 75166, US, on September 22, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228, US, on September 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
