Celia Urbina, age 74, passed away on April 20, 2018 in Dallas, TX surrounded by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was born on May 19, 1943 in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico to Francisco and Emilia A. Urbina.
Celia attended St. Ann’s School in Dallas and later graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1977. Celia was a dedicated Bilingual Educator at John F. Peeler Elementary School where she worked for 32 years. In her spare time she enjoyed helping others, traveling, spending time with friends, baking, and watching sports on TV, especially football, basketball, and golf. She has been an Affiliate of the Daughters of Charity since 1983. Her family and friends will always remember her as a feisty, independent, smart, curious, and happy person who was devoted to her Catholic faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Emilia. She is survived by her siblings Maria G. Bera, Emilio Urbina (Delia), Francisco A. Urbina (Gail McCarthy), her nieces and nephews Emilio Urbina Jr, Fernando Urbina (Raquel), Elizabeth Bera, Melinda Urbina, Daniel Urbina-McCarthy, Eric Urbina, Mary Urbina-McCarthy, Nathan Urbina, Kirsten Urbina, Samantha Urbina, and three great-great nieces and a great nephew.
A viewing and rosary will be held on April 23rd at Gonzalez Funeral Home from 5-8pm. With Rosary at 6 pm. The funeral will take place April 24th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church beginning at 10am. Burial at Calvary Hill and a reception later at Holy Trinity. You are invited to wear joyful colors as she was full of life and joy.
