Chapyne Goforth

A strong believer in her faith and a woman of true courage, Chapyne walked through life with grace, elegance and kindness. A devoted wife and loving mother, Chapyne is preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Goforth Jr. and three of their four children, Charles D. Goforth III, James Gipson Goforth, and Margery Ann Goforth.

Chapyne was born December 5, 1921 in Overton, Texas to Lee and Annie Maude Gipson. She was the second of seven children and is survived by her two sisters Joan Huffman of Sherman, Texas and Ann Parish and her husband Harold of Henderson, Texas.

Left to honor her memory is her daughter Carol Goforth Bilton and husband Harlan. She is also survived by her grandson James Harlan Bilton (fiancé Elizabeth Chandler) and granddaughter Katherine Chapyne Bilton of Dallas. Mrs.Goforth is also survived by granddaughter Lesley McGhee of Memphis, Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her spirit for life, her selfless love for her family and friends, and her warm personality welcomed and touched everyone she met. Friends and family will long remember her loving character that welcomed you into her home, baked you an angel biscuit and gave you comfort.

A memorial service will be held in her honor Monday, July 18th at 10:30am at Park Cities Baptist Church in Ellis Chapel.
